Stitching On the Road

It was an exciting weekend.  My niece and God-daughter graduated high school!  MJ, Z, and I travelled from New York to Texas so we could be part of the festivities.

It was HOT in Texas!!  I knew it would be (my sister warned me), but I was definitely not prepared for the heat, although Vicki told me that it's not usually that hot (almost 100 degrees every day we were there) this early.  I guess I'm just lucky like that.

Of course, when I travel my stitching goes with me.  I knew which stitching projects I was taking with me before I even knew what clothes I was packing!  


Progress has been made on the panda project.  I have to finish the one panda, stitch the piece of bamboo they are each holding, and do the grassy area they are sitting on.  And the backstitching, of course.  Isn't there always backstitching?


I'll close this post with some pretties from my rose bush.  I knew it was full of buds before we left for Texas, but when I looked out of my kitchen window this morning I found that the bush exploded with blooms!!  What a beautiful sight to see early in the morning!

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
