Meanwhile, Back At The Ranch...

Fearing that they would become a UFO and live the rest of their days in the dark, Mickey and Minnie broke out of the stitching bag and insisted that they see the light of day.

When last we saw them they looked like this:


Pluto was a large blob of yellow at the bottom of the fabric.

After a few days of some love and attention:


Pluto still looks like a blob of yellow at the bottom of the fabric, but he also has an ear and a collar.

While I'm on the subject of Pluto, I just have to say something. I know that using several shades of color give the finished piece fo great look. The shading really brings out alot. But really? Eight shades of yellow? Do we really need that many?

I think that's why I left if to sit in the dark for so long. I took a look at Pluto's chart and said, "Ummmm...no." But, knowing that there really is not that much more to stitch is really what brought it out of the stitching bag. I have to finish Pluto, stitch the fishing pole that is supposed to be laying next to him, and then it's on to the backstitching! I started this in February 2009. I think it's about time I finish it, don't you?

As I said I always keep small and easy pieces at the ready so that I can take them with me when I have to take the kids somewhere and wait for them. "Singing the Blues" by LHN was just what this stitcher needed:

I don't think that this little blue bird is really singin' the blues, but he is quite cute. I picked it up from Lazy Daisy Thursday night when I went to sit and stitch.
Sit and stitch night at the Lazy Daisy is my favorite night of the month. Some of the ladies that I have met there are so incredibly funny. It's amazing that we manage to get any stitching done at all! I'm not sure what the best part of going is. The fun that we have, or the enabling that goes on there!

I totally agree, how do we get to our stitching when we are having so much fun just being together. Must just be that amazing ability of multi tasking. Glad you had a nice time out as the Lazy Daisy. Pluto will pop with that last shade of yellow...

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
