The Beginning of Summer

I can't believe it's almost the 4th of July already.  Last September school started on what would be my oldest son's senior year.   Now it's July.  The prom, senior day, graduation, and the celebrations that accompany all of these happy events have now come and gone.  M is excitedly looking forward to the next chapter: college!!  There was a time when I was not sure college was a possibility for him.  Behavioral problems at home have caused me many tearful nights over the years.  In all honesty, they still do, but as  M has gotten older and maturity has kicked in the problems have gotten better, and he is able to go forward and study the things he wants to study.  I'm very proud of him.

Summer brings lots of changes to our daily routine.  For the summer months I decided to change my work hours to evening hours.  With two kids home my husband and I figured it would be easier for me to be home during the day and work nights.  In all honestly, I'm not a fan of the evening hours,  but you have to do certain things for your family, I suppose.

I seem to have fallen off the stitching wagon, but I'm trying to climb back on.  Figuring an easier project would be just what I need I pulled out a project that has been languishing in my stitching bag for a long time:

This is Tranquil Momenta, by Needlemania.  It was started three years ago when my family and I were traveling to Houston to visit my sister and her family.  The two colors I'm using are Perfect Pie Crust and Morning Glory.  I have no idea what the fabric is.  It was a color I bought at the Lazy Daisy when it was still open.  The reason it got tossed aside was because there was a mistake that threw off the whole design.  After a while I finally had to back track and find the mistake so I could rip out the problem, and start that section over again.  I think I just forgot that I fixed it until I picked it up again.  It's been a while since I sat and stitched for several hours at a time, but that is just what I did yesterday.  It was a good way to recover after the graduation party at our house the day before.

I was trying to work on the next square in the ABC series by Little House Needleworks.  I brought it to the bowling alley with me to work on while M bowled, only to discover the many, many mistakes along the way.  I used the wrong color for the grass, and the tree trunks are all miscounted.  I hate to do it,  but I'm going to toss it because there is just too much to pull out.  So I was stuck at the freezing cold bowling alley with nothing to do.  There is nothing worse!

Happy Independence Day! Congratulations and best wishes to your son, the graduate! I like your current project -- the fibers really pop on your fabric choice.
