The Dog Days of August...

At the moment they are really not all that bad. A few posts ago I was complaining about the oppressive heat and that my poor fingernails were sweating. Right now, it's cool and rainy. Hopefully at some point today I will get some stitching done.

As I type there are workers in the basement putting that area of the house back together from when the cesspool backed up. Finally!! The longer I had to look at the carpeting all torn up the more upset I was getting about it, however it seems that I will be able to close that chapter of our exciting summer adventures and move on to the next thing that will inevitably come along. After all, something always does, doesn't it?

The last two weeks my kitchen has been turned into a culinary school. M wants to learn how to cook, so it's been Cooking 101 in my house. So far we've made roasted chicken with noodles, gravy, and steamed broccoli, tacos, pot roast, and chicken and rice. He's been a good student so far. I keep telling myself that my future daughter-in-law will thank me later!

At the beginning of the summer I was not getting alot of stitching done. Too many things going on here and the thought of stitching was overwhelming, especially on something as big as the HAED pandas. I seem to have pulled myself out of that great big slump, which was a relief and the pandas were calling to me. The poor things were missing seeing the light of day!

Page 8 is coming along quite nicely and that poor little panda head is finally starting to get a body!

The swirlies are finished!!
And so are my fantasies about Tudor England, I suppose. LOL!! Now, to decide how to finish it. I am thinking about a wall hanging, mostly because I really don't want to spend a fortune to get another piece framed. I will have to go to the fabric store and see if I can find anything that speaks to me, as they say. If so, then time at my sewing machine will be in my future and a new decoration will be on the wall in the bedroom.
It's hard to believe that the summer is almost over. Monday is orientation for M for middle school and Z is anxiously awaiting the letter that will tell him who his new teacher will be for the coming school year. All of the school supplies have been purchased, new shoes are on their feet, and new clothes are in the drawers. September is almost here! The kids may not be pleased, but I sure am!

Ahhh the first day of school. I don't know who is more excited-the children or the parent? :) Probably the parent. LOL
