Progress In More Ways Than One

Last week my goal was to get my leaflets organized. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions as to how you organize the leaflets that you have. I don't have a craft room where I have all of my stitching supplies. I have a closet. MJ and I renovated our house about 7 years ago and the room that was the master bedroom is now a family room/den type of room. There are two decent sized closets in that room and I took one over, added shelves, and moved my stash to it's new home. What I needed was something that would fit into the closet and keep everything together, and keep it neat and easy to access at the same time. If anyone who reads my blog also does scrap booking, you may be familiar with the solution that I came up with:

I found these in the scrap book section of AC Moore. They are designed to hold 12 x 12 sheets of scrap book paper, but the more I looked at them the more I thought that they would serve my purpose, so I thought I would give it a try.

The containers have sections with tabs on the top of each one, so I am able to clearly mark what is in each section:

After I tried the first one and decided that it would work I went back to the store to get the second one. I was able to fit everything into both of them and since they are expandable I should be able to use them for a while. One job down!!
The ladies of the embroidery guild are taking shape as well:

A Book, Some Ornaments, and a Giveaway!

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. First Finish Of The Year

I finished Home Of A Needleworker the other day and since I knew that I was going to finish it as a wall hanging I had to make a trip to Joanne Fabrics in the hope of finding something that I thought would work. I don't know about you, but sometimes I got to look for fabric for a certain project, and I have something in my mind, but I can never seem to find what I see in my mind's eye. I end up roaming around the store, endlessly looking for something that apparently does not exist. For this one, though, I really didn't have any idea what kind of fabric that I wanted. The color green kept leaping to mind, but I was not really sure about it. So, I took the finished stitched piece with me so I could hold it up against any fabric that I thought might catch my eye. I was in the store all of five minutes when I came across this brown and blue fabric and I just could not believe my eyes! It was perfect!! Welcome To My Blog!

Welcome to My Stitchalong! As you may guess from the title, I am a stitcher. Cross stitching mostly, but I also do a little quilting and some crocheting. I was encouraged to start this blog by my cousin's wife (a big shout out to Sarah!!) so here I am. I'm a stay at home wife and mom to one husband and two active boys. Running after two boys during the day and taking them both here and there leaves me wanting something for myself, so my stitching comes in quite handy. I've turned my stitching into lots of things: pillows, wall hangings, quilts. This is my journey through my life as a wife, mom, and stitcher. This is a project that I finished over the summer. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to make it into: a wall hanging for my master bedroom. It's one of my favorite finishes that I've done.
