Stash In The Mail and Other Thoughs

Don't you love getting stash in the mail? Especially when the package is bigger than you think it's going to be? Doris (http://apauseinthejourney.blogspot.com/) has been doing some cleaning out of some stash that she knew she would never use and had some fabric to give away. I told her that I would be interested in the fabric and I was told last week that it would be winging its way over to my house. Well, today the package arrived, and boy was there alot of fabric!

These are the browns/earth tones that I got:

These were the cooler shades:

At the moment my personal favorites are the blue and the pink and my mind is already running trying to think which projects to use those colors on. I'm giddy with excitement. Thank you so much Doris, for your generosity. I am so grateful!
Tomorrow is Lazy Daisy night, my favorite night of the month. Getting together with the people at the shop is always such a fun night and one that I look forward to. It's nice to get out, although there have been nights when the kids whine, "Can't we come with you???" Umm, no. Call me mean mommy, but stitch night and Lazy Daisy night are my nights without my boys.
School starts here in three weeks and I spent alot of time getting both of the kids ready for the start of it. Yesterday we did some shopping for new school clothes, or we tried to at least. All of the stores still have short sleeved shirts out and I am trying to find thing for the fall. I'll have to try other stores. Then I spent two and half hours going through drawers, taking out the old . clothes that will no longer fit them, putting into the drawers the new things that we bought. Then there is always the task of going thought the clothes that M has outgrown, but that we kept figuring that Z would be able to wear them. And there were alot of those. But, I finally got all of the clothes much more organized and easy to get to.
Today was hair cut day. I realize that by the time school starts they will be almost half way to needing to have them again, but M's hair is quite thick and it grows like a weed. He was starting to look pretty shaggy and I was not waiting any longer. Hair cuts were needed NOW.
Next week I can pick up their school supplies and back packs, and then it's all over. Both of my boys will be "school aged". Wow. That seems to strange to me. I have to admit that I am looking forward to it and I'm hoping that I will use my days productively and not get sucked into the television. Oh, I'm a sucker for History Channel. Hopefully, I will put my time to good use while my little ones are learning. Well, I guess M is not that little anymore, but that's another post for another day.
I have gotten quite a bit done on the sampler this week. Page 16 is done and I only have the border to work on for page 17. It is moving right along. I had hoped to have page 17 done by sit and stitch tomorrow night, but I never had a chance to sit and work on it today, so I don't think that is going to happen. I guess I'll just have to work on it at the shop tomorrow night. I can't wait until it's done.
That's pretty much the story from here. Again, I really want to thank Doris for her tremendous generosity.

Oh, Pam, thank you for taking those pieces of fabric. It's fun to watch you enjoy it.

It really is surprising when all the kiddos are in school. So quiet! Now you'll get to listen to more stories about school.

The fabric looks great! I usually pick up staples for school and wait until after it starts to get the winter type of clothes. I think the department stores have their seasons messed up sometimes. :)

Great fabric stash! Looks like you got some good pieces. The pink or blue would be great for a Lizzie Kate design. Or maybe you'll spot something tonight at Lazy Daisy.

See you then.

Wow great package from Doris with those fabrics!

I can't believe summer is almost over. My kids are already involved in some school things and the official start date isn't until Sept. 8. I love having them around, but on the other hand, I'll be so happy to hear quiet! LOL
