I Really Do Stitch

I finally got to take pictures of the two projects that I've been working on. This Santa is a Sue Hillis design called "Yo Ho Ho Ho". I love his candy cane hook and peppermint peg leg. I was hoping to have him finished by Christmas, and I was doing really well on him, but life, or rather Christmas, got in the way I suppose. There really is not alot left to do on him. Santa is supposed to be carrying a tree on his back, so I have to finish that, and do the back stitching and then he will be done. At least I will have a head start on my Christmas stitching for next year.

I love this project and I've made a decision to work on it more in 2009 than I did in 2008. MJ bought me a personalized sampler from Nouveou Encore Designs for my birthday (which was in January) and I started it in the spring. To be fair, I didn't really do alot of work on it at first because I was working on "Noah's Sub" for my God-daughter, which took me 16 months to complete, so by the time I finished that I was really looking to work on small things. My sampler is 20 pages long, which is why this project took a back seat. After finishing Noah, this seemed daunting. But, it's been my project of choice lately and I'm really making some progress in it. Once I finish the border on the one side I will be done with the first row.

Oh Pam! That's going to be gorgeous! I have played with the idea of getting one, but haven't taken the plunge. I have some other BAPs going right now too.

It's Fall!!

The calendar has turned to September.  The weather has (finally) turned cooler, the kids are back to school, and we're enjoying cool night outside by the fire pit.  It's a busy time of year for all of us.  My stitching hands have been busy, too! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about how I'm finishing the mandala panda. Stitching is complete!  See what happens when I stick to working on one project?  I actually get something finished!  In truth, I loved this piece.  It was a true joy to work on.  It has been sent off to a friend, who is fabulous with a sewing machine, and she will be creating a tote bag with my panda as the center of the creation!!  I can't wait to see what she comes up with! Happy Dance of Sampler Joy!!

Anyone want to put on their happy dance shoes and join me? I finished my sampler this afternoon: It's not washed or ironed yet, and it will be awhile until I get it framed because it's so big. I know exactly where I want to put it, too. There is a perfect spot in the dining room where everyone will be able to see it. Talk about excited!! I am so happy to finally finishe this piece. I remember when I started it, thinking that 20 pages seemed so long. I still does, to be honest, but I guess when you compare it to the 69 page HAED, the 20 page sampler was a cake walk! When you first start something like this I guess you feel like you will never get to the end, or at least that is how I felt about it. But look at me now? One HUGE project done and out of my stitching bag! Now I plan on finished the LHN piece that I have started and then I think I will start some Christmas ornaments. I'm moving right along. Welcome To My Blog!

Welcome to My Stitchalong! As you may guess from the title, I am a stitcher. Cross stitching mostly, but I also do a little quilting and some crocheting. I was encouraged to start this blog by my cousin's wife (a big shout out to Sarah!!) so here I am. I'm a stay at home wife and mom to one husband and two active boys. Running after two boys during the day and taking them both here and there leaves me wanting something for myself, so my stitching comes in quite handy. I've turned my stitching into lots of things: pillows, wall hangings, quilts. This is my journey through my life as a wife, mom, and stitcher. This is a project that I finished over the summer. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to make it into: a wall hanging for my master bedroom. It's one of my favorite finishes that I've done.
