Calorie Free Cupcakes

Seriously, are there any better kind? My LNS held a finishing class for the cross stitched cupcakes last night. Most of the women that were there I've seen at the monthly sit and stitch that the shop holds, so it was a very fun group to enjoy a night out with. I think we spent more time laughing than we did actually finishing our projects. This was my cupcake:

This is not one of the designs from the cupcake book. I could not decide which one in the book to work on, so I found this motif in another book that I had in my stash and it was small enough for what I needed. Putting this cupcake together was much easier that I thought it would be. And we had so much fun doing it! M saw it sitting on the table on the den and asked where the cupcake came from. He thought it was a real one to eat. I envision a whole cupcake stand filled with stitched cupcakes. I told that to MJ and he sort of just rolled his eyes at me gave me that "Yes, dear" look. I know, I know. He's a guy and just can't get excited over a stand full of stitched cupcakes.

You know what I like about a class like this? Everyone looking at what the next person made and oooing and aahing over each others work. I just love that! That's my favorite part of sit and stitch, too. Seeing what someone else is working on, asking questions about different charts, fabrics, and threads. I have learned so much about stitching from other women who are way more knowledgeable than me.

I spent a good part of the week working on the little sampler that Blackbird Designs did for their contest. It's not done yet, so I obviously did not submit a picture of it to Alma and Barb. Even though their contest of over, I may send them a picture of it anyway so they can see it. Anyone know how to say purple in French? My sampler can be called "Petites Lettres Purple"

I could not get a great shot of it because the flash keeps washing out the light color that I used, but if you see it in person you can see all of the colors quite well. Since I was not submitting it for the contest I did not put a bird motif in. Instead I used a heart and put my name and MJ's name in, along with the year we were married. Our 12th wedding anniversary is a week from tomorrow and I thought that this would be a great little project to make to mark the occasion. I'm still trying to decide how to finish it once it's done. I have really loved working on this. It was a great project to me stitching again.

Anyone here have kids? Anyone have kid who own an X-box 360? If so, then you will know exactly what this is:

M is going to be 10 next week, which totally blows my mind. I just can not be old enough to be the mother of a ten year old boy. That means that I'm ten years older than I was when he was born, but that's another post for another day. M loves his X-box and his video games. I saw this on one of the message boards that I visit and the person who stitched it gave me the website where it was available. I thought it was perfect for my guy.
Does this happen to anyone else? I took this to the LNS to have it frames and the only frame that I liked for it was, of course, the most expensive one in the shop. Why do I do that? I think that the framers must see me coming and put away all of the nice, inexpensive frames so that I'll have to buy the high priced ones. Which I do because that's what I like.
What are everyone's plans for the weekend? M has a little league game tomorrow afternoon and Sunday is filled with family and friends coming over for his birthday. It's going to be a busy one!

The little cupcake is darling. Glad you had fun finishing it. I'm bad about ever getting anything finished, but I have a friend who has promised to teach me how to make little pillows, so maybe that will help.

The sampler is great! I love the purples. Is this one that you designed, or is it available somewhere?

Storming here and supposed to storm tomorrow too, so I'm reading and stitching all weekend!
