Kindergarten Screenings

Z starts kindergarten in September and this morning was his kindergarten screening. Each kid was given a 45 minute time slot, but they were running quite a bit behind schedule and I was there for nearly two hours. Yikes! Good thing I didn't have any other plans this morning. He did well, although they say he has some articulation issues. I could have told them that! I've been trying to get him speech help since he was two years old. I think, finally, they will give him speech. I've been asking for speech for three years and I won't really find out until September if they will give it to him, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

As for my stitching, I I have no pictures, but I can report that I finished page 11 of my sampler! Woo hoo!! I now have less than half of the sampler left with only 9 pages to go. I was looking thought my stash to see if I had a pattern for a small panda that would make a good cupcake and I found one! I had this tiny kit that was supposed to be an ornament, but it looks to be the perfect size to finish this way. I'm so excited!

A cupcake Panda???? Hmmmm you have my attention! LOL...that would make a cute pincushion. And no....that box is not on it's way to you yet. :-)

I hope Z can get speech help if he hasn't improved on his own before September. I'll say a special little prayer for him...and for his momma that she doesn't worry too much. ;-)

Woo hoo for finishing page 11! Sorry to read that you had to do some frogging first. Yuck!

Looking forward to pictures...post 'em when ya' can. :)

You gotta keep pushing to get the help you know your child needs. Sometimes it's hard but don't give up! The panda cupcake sounds cute - you'll have quite a collection soon, won't you?!

A Book, Some Ornaments, and a Giveaway!

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A few stitches here, a few stitches there, but not much more than that. The reason? I had four ornaments that I needed...

First Finish Of The Year

I finished Home Of A Needleworker the other day and since I knew that I was going to finish it as a wall hanging I had to make a trip to Joanne Fabrics in the hope of finding something that I thought would work. I don't know about you, but sometimes I got to look for fabric for a certain project, and I have something in my mind, but I can never seem to find what I see in my mind's eye. I end up roaming around the store, endlessly looking for something that apparently does not exist. For this one, though, I really didn't have any idea what kind of fabric that I wanted. The color green kept leaping to mind, but I was not really sure about it. So, I took the finished stitched piece with me so I could hold it up against any fabric that I thought might catch my eye. Welcome To My Blog!

Welcome to My Stitchalong! As you may guess from the title, I am a stitcher. Cross stitching mostly, but I also do a little quilting and some crocheting. I was encouraged to start this blog by my cousin's wife (a big shout out to Sarah!!) so here I am. I'm a stay at home wife and mom to one husband and two active boys. Running after two boys during the day and taking them both here and there leaves me wanting something for myself, so my stitching comes in quite handy. I've turned my stitching into lots of things: pillows, wall hangings, quilts. This is my journey through my life as a wife, mom, and stitcher. This is a project that I finished over the summer. As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to make it into: a wall hanging for my master bedroom. It's one of my favorite finishes that I've done.
