Pampering and A Day Off

This was a good weekend. Saturday my future SIL and I went to have manicures and pedicures, and then get something for lunch. We had such a nice afternoon! Going to get my nails done, while it's awesome, is just not something that ever seems to make it to the top of my priority list. If someone says, "Oh, let's make a date to get our nails done," I'm all over that. But for some reason it's not something that I go to do by myself. I think part of the reason is that I have a large supply of nail polish (it's one of my weaknesses) and I actually like to do my nails myself. But, on Saturday it was so nice to sit and have my nails and toes done, and sit in the massaging chair while someone rubbed my feet. Ahh! That was nice!

My FIL is an airplane nut and he's turning my kids in airplane nuts, too. Over Memorial Day weekend there is an air show here. My in-laws have gone for the last several years. Last year they wanted to bring the kids, but I thought it was not a good idea. They asked again this year if they could bring them and MJ and I said, "why not?" So, Saturday night I packed up lunches, snacks, and drinks for the boys and my in-laws were here bright and early at 7:00 am to pick them up and take them away for the day.

This is going to sound silly, but I didn't know what to do with myself! There was no one calling for me. No kids fighting. No television blasting. It was quiet. Wow! It was SOOOO nice. MJ and I went out for lunch (Bobby's Burger Palace again. I love their milk shakes!) and then we went to see "Angels and Demons". I thought this movie was much better than "The DaVinci Code" and for me it was great because we got to go out and I didn't have to worry about a babysitter.

The kids had fun at the airshow, although it was a really long day for both of them. Their little faces are all glowing from being out on the beach all day yesterday. So, I got most of the day off, the kids had fun with their grandparents, and everyone had a good day. I don't think I can ask for anything more than that!

Oh I LOVED the book and read it before I read DaVinci...yeah, and did you hear crickets? I do when noone is around and I'm so lost! I'm glad you had a great weekend!

Glad you got a day to yourself and MJ. :) That's always a good thing because everyone needs a little break every now and then. I know what you mean, though...when the kids are supposed to be gone, I can think all sorts of great things to do. When they actually leave though, I might as well just walk around in circles -- I'm lost and I miss them! LOL

Glad you enjoyed the movie, too. Sounds like a great weekend! :)

Sounds like you had an awesome weekend!!! I just bought Bobby Flay's burger book..his shakes look amazing! One of these days I will make it to one of his restaurants. :)

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
