Christmas Shopping

I was going through my calendar the other day and was absolutely astounded to realize that Thanksgiving is in two weeks. WHAT?? Where did the time go? I haven't even started my Christmas shopping. Not only did I not start the shopping, but I hadn't even made the list of people that I have to buy for. I am way behind. By now I'm usually at least half way done with buying for people and I'm looking for good places to hide things from the kids. The only present I had was the trivet that I made for MJ's mom that I finished months ago. It's time to swing into action!

Finally, yesterday, I started my shopping. I didn't get a whole lot done for the adults on my list, but I did get a bunch of the things that the kids wanted. I actually like to shop for the kids. They are the easiest to buy for by far. A game, a few books, some surprises and the kids are always happy. There are so many other people that I just don't know what to buy. Most of them are to the point in their lives where if they want something they will just go and get it for themselves and not wait for a birthday or holiday to come around so someone can buy it for them. At least MJ and I agreed that we are not going to exchange this year. One adult person off my list! Yes!

I am planning to make some of my gifts this year and I have not even started either. Guess I need th think about that, huh?

It is amazing how quick the days fly by. I am hoping to make 12 kinds of cookies this year and must start this weekend. Not only do I have to make them, I need to keep everyone's hands off them :)

I agree it gets hard...that's why in my family we decided to forgo giving to each other except for the kids, they receive!

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
