For My Boys

When I finished sewing my Tinsel door hanging, Z asked me to sew him something. "What would you like?" I asked him and his response was, "Winnie the Pooh!" I has stitched these two small Pooh piecesfor him two years ago ( I remember watching hockey from the Turin Olympic while I was working on them, so that's how long ago I started them) and never made anything with them. By the time I remembered about them he had grown out of the Pooh faze, or so I had thought. Pooh was what he wanted. So my little guy and I headed to the fabric store and picked out this great Pooh fabric and I started sewing (did I mention that I love my new sewing table?) This was the end result:

Of course, once M saw that Z had a new wall hanging, the first thing that he said, "What can you make me?" I had this Buzz and Woody piece that I had stitched a while ago for him. It was supposed to be the center of a "Toy Story" quilt, but I could not find Buzz and Woody fabric, so the quilt sort of faded into nothing. While Z and I were shopping for the Pooh fabric, I found the fabric that I have been searching for:


That's right! Buzz and Woody fabric! I was so excited because M wanted me to make him a wall hanging out of it. So now, both of my boys have their very own creations by Mom.

I love how you made fabric frames for these projects. They look great! I'm making a similar Toy Story project for my Mom and never thought of a fabric frame. Guess, I'll plan on that! Great job!

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
