Too Early For Christmas Stitching?

I usually don't do alot of stitching for Christmas. A few years ago, during my first Christmas as a stay at home mom, I thought that making some gifts for people would be a great way to give nice gifts to people and still come in on my Christmas budget. I found, however, that the gifts were really not appreciated the way that I had hoped they would be. So now I just usually make one or two small things that I usually keep for myself. I just finished these two .

This tree is by JBW Designs and there was something about it that I just really liked.

When I get my new sewing table I plan on making both of them into door hangers for two of the many doors here in this house. I already have the perfect fabric for the LK design. I have to see what I can find for the tree design.

Warning: I am about to get on my soapbox.

Today is election day. We are lucky enough to live in a country to wants our opinion as to who we think should be leading our country. Growing up I knew several adults who never voted. They felt it was a waste of time. Now that I'm the adult I could not disagree more. Voting is our right and our privilege. It doesn't matter who you vote for as long as you get out there, stand in line like everyone else, and make your voice heard.

Okay, I'm off my soap box now.

Off to do some stitching.

This is my 100th post! To celebrate, I have decided to have a giveaway, but there will be more on that later. I just finished a GREAT book. I have a neighbor who loves to read like I do, and we have very similar tastes in books. She lent me "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It takes place in 12th century England. In the beginning introduces several groups of characters and as the book goes on, you see how all of these characters and their lives intertwine with each other. It was slow in the beginning, but as I got more into it, it was one of those books that I had a really hard time putting down. The neighbor who lent it to me told me that there is a sequel to it! She is reading that right now, and promised that I could borrow it when she is done with it. Hurray! A new book to read! I have not gotten a great deal of stitching done this week. A Quiet Sunday

Yesterday we had the joy of going to watch our niece swim in a meet at a local university.  We were up and out early, and with a quick stop at Starbucks to fuel our morning, we were off!  It was great to watch her compete and spend the day with her family.  I worked last night, which is a rare thing for me on a Saturday night, so it was a long day.  Today we're keeping it quiet.  Z has homework to finish, MJ is streaming something on Netflix, and after baking, doing laundry, and vacuuming the house, I am stitching.  My usual stitching spot gets cold and drafty in the winter at times, so I bought myself a birthday present: a new Ott Light, and I created a second stitching space for myself. And The Cake Was...

I guess I'm really predictable because someone guessed that my birthday cake was a panda. Hmmm! How did you ever figure that out?? This must be a guy thing because my husband, my oldest son, and my friend's husband all asked me the same thing: are you going to cut the head off first? That poor bear. But he was really tasty! Me, next to the cake: This is my uncle (my later dad's brother) and I was really happy that he, his wife, Debbie, and my Aunt Rosalie (who I did not get a picture of!) were there for the party. They live about 4 hours away, so it was a hike for them to get here, but they came to see me and I was thrilled! This weekend Lazy Daisy is having a Superbowl Sale on Saturday and I was supposed to get together with three of my friends and go shopping there.
